KEY STEPS TO A PERFECT CUP OF COFFEE
COFFEE FRESHNESS: The key to excellent coffee is freshness. Green beans have a shelf life of approximately
1 - 2 years, but once roasted, coffee begins to stale almost immediately. Roasted coffee
has a shelf life of about 2 weeks, while coffee that has been ground should be used
immediately, or within 1 hour to achieve the ultimate cup of coffee.
GOOD COFFEE BEAN: Buy good quality beans that have been freshly roasted
to achieve full, wonderful coffee flavour.
BUY BEANS: To make the perfect cup of coffee, grind your beans at
home just before brewing.
PROPER STORAGE: Store your coffee in an airtight container away
from heat and moisture (not in the fridge or freezer).
CORRECT GRIND LEVEL: The degree of extraction of coffee depends
on the fineness of grind and the duration of contact between grinds and water. At Coutts & Company, we can help you to choose perfect grind level for your coffee maker.
CORRECT AMOUNT: One to two tablespoons of coffee grinds per
six-ounce cup of coffee is recommended. Adjust the amount you use according to your taste.
GOOD WATER: Fresh, cold water free of any flavour or odour is best.
EQUIPMENT: Use clean and well maintained equipment.
TEMPERATURE: Brewing temperature for coffee is 195 degrees F (90 degrees C).
AFTER BREWING: Serve immediately. Do not allow to sit on a burner.
Transfer to thermal pot if necessary.
SAVOUR IT: Sit back, relax, and enjoy. Do not gulp!!!
